Who are you, what do you do?

Known to many in the hiking community as Wired, I got hooked on long distance backpacking in 2011. I have set my sights on hiking’s Triple Crown (Pacific Crest Trail 2011, Continental Divide Trail 2013, Appalachian Trail 2014) and more. I enjoy sharing the trail through my blog Walking With Wired, in which people have enjoyed virtually hiking the trails with me as I post from my tent at night.

Who are you, what do you do?

Just someone who likes to travel in remote places and take photographs. I grew up in the big city (London, UK) and came into backpacking late, but I've always had the habit of finding empty corners to get lost in, be it the local abandoned brickworks or bigger mountains further afield. I walked across the Pyrenees between France and Spain in 2011 for 64 days which definitely changed my outlook. I currently work for The John Muir Trust, a wild land conservation organisation, part time and am based in Edinburgh, Scotland. I also do some writing and photography for my own blog and other outdoors publications in the UK.

Who are you, what do you do?

Many people know me by Russ Dresher, but I have some aliases. On the trail, I am known as Night Terror. On the internet I am known as Backpacking Engineer for the site that I host, I work as an R&D Engineer specializing in electronic medical device design. My job can be quite stressful so I spend as much time as possible traipsing through the wilderness to unwind. Besides backpacking, I like to figure out how things work (especially gear), and I am an avid fitness buff.
